About this place
Fancy a few pieces of sashimi, or a meal of sushi and hosomaki? Shinten is an izakaya in Tsuruhashi with seafood at its heart, alongside a range of small plates.
The menu lists sashimi platters for one at 3 varieties for 450 yen and 5 varieties for 700 yen. One diner who ordered the 5-variety platter noted that it came with 2 pieces of each kind, making it a good way to sample several fish in smaller portions. Seafood yukhoe is another option. Listed at 450 yen, it was described by a diner as a dish of chopped seafood topped with a raw egg. Try it for a different take on seafood from sashimi.
Sushi includes tuna, salmon and yellowtail at 230 yen per piece, while sea bream, eel, red shrimp and scallop are listed at 460 yen. For hosomaki, there is tuna roll for 330 yen, as well as cucumber roll for 230 yen and shrimp-mayonnaise roll for 330 yen. A diner reported that the tuna roll came as 6 pieces, making it a fitting way to round off a meal after some sashimi.
There are small plates beyond seafood, too. One diner mentioned a shrimp cutlet served with sauce underneath. The menu also includes grilled eel liver skewers, rolled omelette and simmered sea bream head. With seafood as the focus, these dishes offer a change of pace for another round.
Drinks listed include draft Asahi Super Dry for 300 yen, bottled beer for 400 yen and highballs for 300 yen. The selection works for a casual drink with a few small plates, or a more substantial meal centred on sashimi and sushi.
The standing-bar format is described as suitable for solo diners. Payment is cash only, and the restaurant is open daily from 17:00 until 1:00 the following day. It may be an option for a late drink in Tsuruhashi.
